Thursday Night Football: Injuries Pile Up for 49ers. Can They Overcome the Odds Against the Rams?

By now, you probably have heard that the 49ers are the most banged-up team in the NFL. Starting quarterback Brock Purdy, wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings are all set to miss. They are joining Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle, who have been out for some time now.
With the mounting injuries for the Niners, the Rams are an 8.5-point favorite. There aren’t many player props I like in this game. I slightly lean toward Puka Nacua’s under due to the good pass defense for the Niners and the big point spread, but he’s the target monster on that team. I’m staying away there.
I do like Jared Verse to record a sack today at +136.
Verse has two sacks on the season but has a 91.5 pass rush grade (per pff.com). He has one of the highest win percentages (26.1%) in the NFL, yet hasn’t gotten home to the quarterback as much as he’d like.
He will be up against the formidable Trent Williams, who has yet to give up a sack this season.
Unfortunately for the Niners, they will have their hands full with this pass rush from the Rams. A Rams team that has the fourth-highest pressure rate. With Byron Young on the other side and a weaker interior offensive line, the Niners will have to choose wisely who and when they double.
This bet also gets an added boost because Mac Jones' pressure-to-sack percentage is nearly four times higher than Brock Purdy’s.
